Plot the empirical cumulative distribution of observations: the sorted values on the x-axis against 1/n, 2/n, ..., 1 on the y-axis, so the curve climbs from just above 0 to exactly 1.

Return the Axes. The sort is the whole job -- plotting the values in the order they arrived gives a line that wanders rather than a CDF.
